    Posted: 16 Jan. 2008 at 6:07pm
UPDATE: 9-19-08

It's alive!  The last major feature is now incorporated:
Individual "Part Detail" page
Now, when browsing a list, the "part number" is a clickable link, that switches to a "Part Detail" page, showing every little tid-bit that Willys had in their parts list, PLUS - Lots of other areas for adding "other " information about the part:
  • Part breakdown: If Willys listed it as a "kit", "set" or "assembly", the component parts are shown
  • Characteristics: eg, markings, color, finish, material, etc., etc.
  • Alternative parts: other manufacturers parts, new repro, NOS, modern service, etc.
  • Comments: any pertinent info that users & owners may find informative
  • Links: to other web pages with pertinent information regarding this part
  • Photos: whatever photos may be appropriate for identification or detail
  • Bulletins: excerpts from Willys service bulletins or memos regarding this part.
  • For future use: any number of additional data fields can be added for any part.
Check out 1st. edition, Group 10-01, Engine, part #640368 (top of the list), and engine gasket set, #640634 (3rd in the list) for examples (some is just dummy data in there for now, just so's you'll see what's possible).
CJ2A Parts Database
Still have some quirks to work the bugs out of, but it's functional & usable as-is.  If you see any problems, let me know!

Now it's ALL Y'ALLS TURN! (did I get it right Jack?).  It's going to take a LOT of data to completely populate it: photos, links, other part numbers & vendors/manufacturers, etc.  Send me what you have!  (I, of course, will be final arbiter of what gets included Wink).

Wow Sean,
Great work. Your contributions here are priceless. You have done what I've allways wanted to have here. I'm sure that Russ is very pleased, he now has the undisputed best Jeep site available for The first civilian Jeep CJ2A. Your input can't be measured with this and all the other help that you have been on everything 2A. Now you won't have to answer all the questions about when a part was introduced.  You'll still be looked to, to interpet these changes (that will be the fun part).

Sean;

Spectacular work.

I have an old Motor's Auto Repair Manual (1956).  The illustrations that are in it are very good, but I think yours "take the cake".

Thanks for doing all the research and associated time consuming work. I know I'll be using it!
