I pulled the passenger seat mounts off of the old tool box on my '46 CJ2a, and after cleaning them up found the number 663485 on the bottom of both mounts. Is this a part number or another serial number as on the tail gate mounts?

My best guess would be part number, as they never made that many CJ-2As

663485 as a serial number? For a CJ-2A?

John,
As mentioned, it's the part number. Your database shows the passenger seat in the ACCESORIES group 35-19: Since two different part numbers are listed, it suggests the pivots should not be exactly the same but mirror opposite (what I have on my 3B). Not sure on early 2A's.

Ok I see what you are saying now.....my apologies. Pre-coffee posting is not a good thing. Maybe that needs to be in the abbreviation thread. PCP... |

Thanks for the info. The numbers weren't completely clear and it is possible the last "5" on the second mount is actually a "6".

That number is a casting number, which every cast part has. Whenever a cast part became a finished part without the addition of any other pieces, the casting number was used as a part number, as in this case. If any other pieces were fastened to the casting, as a stop riveted to it or something that made the assembly the smallest part available, ie the casting was not available by itself, then a new part number was issued.

No problem, rocnroll. Bad sentence structure on my part. Was thinking of comparisons. LP records? Peoples? Mind wobbles
