I have had two condensers fail in my Jeeps, one after only a couple of months. I got them running again by using old condensers from my parts bin.
I suspect these failed parts are Asian import parts. They were bought from two different reputable suppliers but neither mentioned the origin. In both cases these "tune up kits" came in unmarked boxes.
I have ran out of old condensers. The only supplier I have found that mentions the brand and quality of the ignition parts they sell is Classic Military Vehicles which sells "Blue Streak" branded points and condensers for our Jeeps. I have used other products, coils and ignition parts for vehicles other than Jeeps with that branding and found them to be good quality, so I have ordered a couple of sets of these for my Jeeps. Only time will tell, but I expect these to be better than the junk I have gotten that came in unmarked boxes. Edited by Oldpappy - 16 June 2021 at 10:48pm |

Heck I think O'Reilly's sells Blue Streak. I'm pretty sure that's where I got mine.

Sounds good to me. I’ll give Blue Streak parts a try.
Interesting note. After a quick look on the Internet, SMP (maker of Blue Streak) manufacturers their parts all over the world, including Asia. It may be they source better materials to begin with, so their stuff is better quality overall (??). Don’t know where their ignition parts are made. Could be Asia, Mexico, Canada, Europe … they make stuff everywhere. Might be interesting to find out.

What I found with my Standard/Blue Streak condensor was that the wire terminal just barely did fit in without interference. I saw one that used a flat copper conductor instead of a wire but I'm not sure it's compatible, I may research that sometime.

I bought a couple NOS condensers off ebay 2 years and ago. I put one in and its been running like a champ ever since. I've also heard 6v Bosch condensers for VW bugs are good.

My local NAPA store sells Echlin ignition parts. No problem obtaining any Willys ignition needed items, always available and have always worked flawlessly.

The Echlin line is manufactured by Standard (Blue Streak) exclusively for NAPA parts stores. Standard bought Echlin Manufacturing several years ago from Dana.

I don’t know about Standard Ignitions Products current quality but I have always considered them to be the finest NORS available.
The Blue Streak line is an upgrade from their “standard” line. I bought me a lot of spare Standard Ignition tune up parts back in the 80’s or 90’s. Also consider buying yourself some NOS AutoLite condensers from eBay. I do that then test all my condensers for proper microfarads of capacitance.

I don't even know what "proper microfarads of capacitance" means .
I got the parts in the mail yesterday, and will install a set in my CJ5 this evening after it cools down some out there. You can tell just by looking at the points set that these are much better quality than the "kit" I installed before. Getting very close to having this Jeep ready to drive. After the ignition tuning I just need to finish the brake job.
