Nicely done! I'm surprised no one's asked how much to make them one!
Here's how mine is attached: |

Once the leg profile is established couldn't they be done with plasma cutter with a whole lot less flap wheel work then welded to the washer part?
(just thinking out loud, don't know much about the plasma abilities.....not fortunate enough to own one) |

Thanks, do you know if that’s an original seat frame or not?

Cutting thick steel with a plasma cutter gives a little bit of bevel. If you cut one side at 3/8” the other side might be 1/16” thicker, so you’d need grinding anyways. If you had a laser or water jet, that would work great. If you can start with the right sized steel, the grinding is easy. I’d say from start to finish it took me less than 5 minutes to mark the steel, chop saw the initial cut, then do the grinding with the flap disc. You’re not removing much metal at all, and I used a real light touch with the grinder, it was super easy. The hard part about it would be making the square hole in a round disc without a plasma cutter. Both of these took about 20 minutes total with welding.

As far as I know, this is original. Bought back in the late 70's-early 80's from a collector that had about 20 jeeps in his back yard (at the time, my local parts supplier). From what I've seen here: It's the late CJ2A style (CJ2A Seat #2)

Could you snap a pic of the front center bar where the seam is. I’d like to see how it’s connected together. Unless it’s covered by a seat cover.

It appears to have a splice tube inside spot welded to the outer tube. |
