hi, so I'm going to rebuild/fix up my cj2a. And i hope it doesn't get out of hand. For starter it is in pretty good shape. I probably could have started driving it but I want to take it off road. So I want it to be in a good shape so i don't have to rebuild in a few years time. Plus there are some modifications I want to do. A small lift , probably shackles maybe springs ,but they look oke winch overdrive disk brakes convert to 12v and some other things. the start (I'm in the Netherlands by the way) I'm not sure about the seats, they are bulky but very comfy and I,m sure about the look of them in a cj2a .....opinions please this number is stamped in the tub in the bit where the weather seal of the windscreen goes. There is very little rust even in places where you would expect some the wiring has been redone at some piont very little rust |

the springs don't look like they are sagged so i guess they have been replaced Has anyone seen this before? it is a wolf call horn. but is is connected to the intake? so it makes noise by sucking air in ? And how would that affect you engine sins when ever you honk the horn the engine would start running lean and it is not filtered. even under the bits of diamante plate the steel is in good shape engine number , does some one know if this is a number that could be a original engine or is it a replaced one? the whole engine is in the green olive drap colour is that normal ? or should it be in a different colour. So that is the start of my project sorry for so many questions All input is welcome . I'll try to keep you posted on the progress |

Hey, nice Willys to start with.
I may be wrong, but your engine block casting may be the gear-drive cam set, depending on number according to the bottom link below. I think most '47 engines were gear.

Your jeep looks to be in very good shape!
Thanks for sharing pics your project with us. My opinion is high back seats look like crap in a flatfender!

X2! I have a similar wolf horn that I had on Uncle Linden’s CJ2-A for a while. The L134 at this altitude doesn’t draw enough vacuum to make it work very well, and then when it got a little trail dust in it, it wouldn’t work at all. Pop told me, “ The flathead V8’s don’t draw enough to make them work well, I don’t imagine the 4 cylinder will be any better”. He was right again! BW

The eye? I would think it would apply to a different part of the anatomy in this case. BW

You do nice work, How do you keep your work space so clean? When I was in the USAF as a jet engine mechanic, one day we had an open tool box inspection. The shop chief W4 warrant officer told me that he could tell that I was using my tools. From the number stamped on the body cowl it looks like a repo body. I bought a repo body in the mid 70's from JC Whitney and it had the sn # stamped on the cowl. Keep up the good work. Jim

The old bakery is a nice place to work. It has a heater/AC unit hanging from the sealing, that is really comfy And a cordless scrubber/drying machine is left over from the bakery , so when a project is moved out i can easily clean the floor. Like now.. The frame is striped , time for the engine there is allot of sludge in the oil pan When i drained the engine green water came out before oil came. It is sill a mystery to me where it came from. I checked the head-gasket it seems fine, so what other place could it seep in? Worst case a cracked engine bloc. any other ideas? pistons have seen some use, number 4 piston had a broken piston-ring on it timing gear has seen better days number 4 cylinder has some bad rust pitting in the cylinder wall. Now I have got a bit of an issue To get rid of the rust pitting in cylinder 4 it needs to get over bored. But there are already +0.40 pistons in so there is not much left to bore I don't know how much bigger it can be bored ? maybe get a new bloc ? or get a different L134 , this is going to be hard in the Netherlands Can i use a F134 block or parts? Swap it for a f134 but does this fit? Swap in something completely different? Now sure jet advise is welcome. |

Number four may be your source of water. I would look for cracks. Sleeve it if that fixes any cracks or you are concerned about over boring. They do make pistons over .40. https://youtu.be/vn2QwP1UR6M Silv-O-Lite makes some oistons for the L134. Catalogs (uempistons.com) Nice project. Micah |

Pressure test the block to see exactly where of if it is leaking. X2 on having it re sleeved if it doesn't clean up with .060. over standard bore. Jim
