Like many of you I heard the pathetic cry for help from fellow forum member OSU Jack about his 7 year quest for the elusive WARN Overdrive knob. Quite honestly no one was giving him much sympathy so I will try to help. I aquired an older Bakelite shifter knob from e-bay that had the same thread and a similar shape.

I screwed in an old L134 head bolt into the back and put it on the drill press. I used  course sandpaper from a belt sander and a file to shape the Bakelite.
After a lot of course sanding and filing-----along with constant measuring--- I was able to closely approximate the original shape. I then had to prepare the face with a decal inset depression. Well the good 'ol Forstner bit did the Job.
I then filled the center hole with a little epoxy and started the process of fine sanding and polishing.
I then affixed the new Warn inset decal into place and BANG! Done!

So after all this I thought I would offer it to OSU Jack so that he would not stroke out. I f he does not want it because it is not "original" I will offer it for sale in the appropriate forum. I have also contacted a member on this site who deals with stuff similar to this and he said he could make some out of black EPOXY with threaded inserts---probably any size thread---So if there is any more interest in this exciting recreation let me know.

I would certainly be interested in one. I've thought about attempting to recreate that, but that's as far as it progressed. Nice work.

Very Nice!

Be interesting to see a cnc engraving detail simular to the dash decal on one somewhere appropriately sized between the T90 knobs and the T/C knobs. Might have to talk to JPET ;{)

Will those fit a repo shifter from Herm the Overdrive Guy? if so I would be interested if you start to make them as that is real nice and maybe I would not be asked what is that shifter for!

Dear Dave,
Your work is amazing! If you decide to make more, I would definitely like one!
The eBay knob that you started with looks like a transfer case knob from a Scout II, which is what I am currently using: and it's larger diameter makes it pretty close to the gear shift in 3rd with OD engaged.
So in addition to looking great, your knob would prevent some bruised fingers.
Best wishes, David
Dave R.

I believe that he used a knob off of a dana 20 tcase...which is funny because I looked at my dana20 on my 66 Commando and found that it was close to what I was wanting to use lol. The only thing is, I don't have an old one like Damar has to get measurements off of..
