Hi, what is your source for the Warn decal? I have a NOS overdrive with everything but the decal. Thanks! Brian

Hoo boy....anybody have a good recipe for crow?
I found my old Warn OD today...its in pieces and needs a rebuild. But guess what was in the bottom of the box?? Thats right....and original warn knob So I put the little decal on it I got from Damar....now I have two knobs honestly, I remember using that knob two years ago before my OD was dismantled by a tranny shop that had no idea what it was and ended up losing some of the pieces. I just forgot I had it and I prolly at one time thot it was lost lol. Thats what happens when you have jeeps peppering your landscape and parts all over the damn place |

Got my overdrive knob a few weeks (months?) ago, finally got it installed. Had to retap the threads to 7/16-14 to match the lever but it's a definite improvement over the re purposed shift knob. Thanks again.

No one I know is commercially making them. I had spoken to another forum member who said he could do it. I guess I didn't want to be stuck with a lot of inventory if I did a run and I could not sell them all. I have been making them for people out of old bakelite knobs or taking the knobs they have and converting them. I wonder just how many of these overdrives are out there without a proper shift knob? I see how many people are dying for a rear view mirror bracket--- if there is as much demand for the knobs as those then maybe a production run is worth it. I do carry the dash, gear box and shift knob decals.

I realize I'm dredging up an old thread, but thought some of you might be interested in a similar project from the Old Willys Forum. Pete had a comercial shop make up a few of these, using the Old Willys Forum logo.
They weren't cheap. I spent some time searching the internet for "custom" shift knobs and the cheapest I could find, that didn't look ugly, started at $50 and went up from there. And they were mass produced even though they were so-called "custom". So the price really wasn't that out of line. www.oldwillysforum.com/forum/showthread.php?3777-Gauging-interest-Killer-shift-knobs&highlight=shift+knob Just thought you might be interested. Here is another exciting shift knob adventure I did. I bought these shift knob insets from Harry Sheets. He had them at the Spring MidWest Willys Reunion in Hudson this year. Kind of the same process as the Warn knob but less work involved.
1. Get a shift knob 2. 7/8" Forstner bit 3. Center shift knob 4. Drill hole...about 3/32" deep 5. Press in inset with a little epoxy on back 6. Install |
