roc,
Aren't you glad you live down south and miss the ravages of winter? Ralph |

Say what????!!!!...... We HAVE been ravaged !!!......talking a "ONE inch accumulation" tomorrow with a disclaimer of "everything that falls will stick".
No milk or bread anywhere (except Walmart, there seems to be collusion with them and weathermen but we have yet to get proof...awaiting FBI probe) Nice here today...been about 47, working on the barn/shop with the doors flung open! It's suppose to' hit the fan' here about 3:30 in the morning. Ran into a friend at the grocery store...laughed and said " milk and bread?" she said "no, tequila and toilet paper!" I'm ready to "hunker down"..... (Probably won't even be able to get out of bed before 9) How is it over your way? |

Stay warm Roc.
Up here in Toronto tonight we got an inch in the last 30 minutes, and I'm driving 140 (kph) in the GC 5.9 with studded Ice tires trying to avoid hitting all the spun out Honda Civics with 40 series summer tires trying to pass me. Trying not to admit it's fun. |

Chad, this is why the South could never invade and occupy the North....your definition of cold weather does not mesh with how REALLY cold it is up here. The Mason/Dixon line is there for a reason.

What’s really crazy is this is new snow after the original 2 feet melted and was gone last Thursday. Oh and last Thursday the temp swing here??? Went from a record 62 down to -4 in 24 hours!

I agree with this statement. (though probably not for the reason you suggested) Also explains why the North wanted to occupy this part of the country so badly. |

I left Ohio in '91 because it never snowed there any more. All it did was rain all winter. I came here to Colorado and it never snows here any more. How did I get to be a snow jinx??

The huge temp swings here in Michigan are keeping the sinus medication companies stock prices high. Some days I want to put my name on the face transplant waiting list. Bill

Yeah, up here in the Idaho Panhandle we had two feet of snow just before Xmas, then a spell of above-freezing weather and it melted down a bit.
Then we got two more feet. Then another thaw. We're running in the low single-digits between thaws. Both times the two feet fell in under 24 hours and were followed by freezing rain. This was just a week ago. The two trucks are both '67 Fords and the lump in the foreground is a 95 VW Golf The evening this was taken, I took the jeep out for a quick run to see if the county road had been plowed yet. I got stuck in frame-deep snow twice in the mile-long drive and never left the road. When I got out the the county road I opened the door and the wind grabbed it. The door smacked into the side-view mirror and put a huge hole in the window. I think I'm going to install a 'limiting strap' to jeep the door from opening far enough to hit the mirror. Let me tell you, canvas tops aren't too fond of heavy snow loads... Edited by LesBerg - 16 Jan. 2018 at 4:59pm |
