Guys,

I'm new here - have come via Derek Redmond's CJ3B page where I'm an old hand - and am after some advice. I own a very rusty CJ-2A, it played a blown up MB in Saving Private Ryan, and cost me £100 (approx $200). It's been in stoareg since th emovie came out but it's time to get it on the road. Yesterday I found this number on a plate on the instrument side of the dash panel EO 55652, another plate  on the engine side of the  body tub has a  number on (probably the same one but it's too corroded to read clearly), If this is the Serial number; is it a '46? What does the EO stand for?

CJ2As are a rarity in England as people only seem to want the MB/GPW models and many 2As have been converted into MBalikes. Mine's rusted beyond saving really but we'll build something driveable and legal out if it!

JC

John,

Welcome to the forum!

I don't know about the EO  prefix, but the passenger side firewall tags (under hood) and the frame tag (driver's side front frame horn, riveted to the frame rail just behind the front bumper originally had the serial numbers for the 2A along with one of three passenger side dash tags for earlier 2As.  If there is only a single, longer dash tag, then it won't have a number, but there will be a second firewall tag.

When you have a chance, post pictures of what you have,  We'd all love to see it, and it could help answer some questions.

Edit: John, take a look at the bottom of the history page here:  http://www.thecj2apage.com/history.html  for a more complete description of where to look for numbers.

John, I'm new here too having found my way via The CJ3B Page. I have a 46/2a with two tags on the firewall and one on the frame horn. The serial numbers match. My 2a is missing the center dash tag. One of three they tell me. If you are able to find and read the frame horn tag that should help you. Good luck and give my regards to the Queen. SFG

Hello all, I'm trying to ID a frame I only have an engine block, rolling chassis "with a lot of paint" & drive line.  The  tub was scrapped, The husband passed away and the wife says it's an m38.  The 2 hoods are stamped Willy's but I can't be sure.

Here's a few part  #'s :

pitman arm # 647008W09

tires are 7.00x16
small tag on front pumkin cover bolt  #43/8
bell housing casting # 849221
rear hitch set up is like a CJ2A
engine supersonic #5533389

Thanks

pitman arm number is 3A/M-38

pumpkin number relates to 5:38 gearing, not sure what M-38 had, MB had 4:88

bellhousing number is late 3A, so it could be M-38

supersonic engine is also 3A
