I just received a PM from KelvinDEe from a WTB post telling me that "kenneth" could sell me what I need. Seems to have the same pattern that we've seen here before; he joined less than 2 hours ago.

If he is buying and not selling then a scam become less likely.
Simply have the buyer pay up before you send parts out to anyone who is questionable…

Ken,

These scams are an attempt to get you to send an email to the "friend" who has or wants the part in an add. Once your email is captured they sell it to other scammers who will start sending you emails that aren't what they appear to be.
If you can't get there in a Jeep you don't need to be there

yeup. i get 120 + every day now. all going in junk folder. they were also able to open accounts including palpal and walmart with my email address. how they managed the confirmation neither paypal nor walmart would say. apple pretty much told me i am the only person on earth this has happened to. ha ha.

I might be wrong but this PM seems very vague and "to me" does not have the feel from one who is interested in the part.  I did a search and found zero posts/information  from him/about him.

Try asking for his address to send the parts, and how he would like to pay, just use PM's and see what he says. I checked his email and it is a ISP in Wyoming.

I have a friend who repairs optics. He does nothing until he receives payment. Then he does the work and returns the lens. Shipping is already calculated into the quote.

Anyway, all you have to do is clear the check, then send the part. 

However, doing business with anyone who has no record here is asking for it IMO. I tried a wtb for some parts on a welding forum and immediately got several pm's from single post members.

I don't know how they do it but anyone who can snag a sell or buy post out of all the many many forums out there that they do not join until they see said item posted and then contact you is suspect.
 Very very suspect.
