Shifter Boot Retainer Marking

I do hope this is the right section...

I was tearing down my Jeep, and noticed an interesting marking on the underside of the metal bracket that retains the shiftboot to the metal housing on the floorboard.

Here is a close up:


And here is a view with more of a perspective:


It's kinda hard to see, but there is a star burst looking shape imprinted into the metal. It was covered by paint, and I only noticed it when I was sanding it down to the bare metal. 

I was curious if anyone had seen this before, and if there was any meaning to this imprinted symbol.

All my jeeps have it too...

I think has to do with the way in which the plates were stamped out.

Or just one of those unexplained Willys things. LOL
