Interesting home-built! The large sprocket seems kind of light weight. Would be fun to test out in a safe environment.

Yup, looks like a bicycle sprocket to me. Not sure I know any "safe environment" for testing a winch. |

Necessity is a Muthah... or something like that . I see all the safety covers and warning decals are long gone. Those'll be hard to find if you decide on a full resto

That frame must have been on ksl. I thought someone on here would pick it up. The winch looks a little iffy.

Make sure to tie back pony-tail, or anything else dangling, before you fire that thing up!

Yup. I thought that it could also serve as a field device for finger amputation.

This thing kind of intrigues me.
From the pictures, I can't figure out how you would release the line. Starters are one way motors so this thing can only pull, no power spooling out, but I can't see a clutch or sliding gear or such to let it free spool. Has to have something or it would be useless. i'm probably going to go look at it this weekend if he doesn't sell it before then.

I really don't think the designer thought about a freespool or brake. Obviously fabbed together before the lawyers got there. I would give it a test the bendix would kinda be a freespool. At the very least you would be the talk of the EJS 2020, if you just left it there and ran the trails.

If you've been injured in a winch accident (we do not represent wenches) call the Offices of Dewey, Cheatham and Howe at the number on your screen.

That looks like an awful lot of cable. Somebody planning to winch himself out of the next state over?
