That´s a collection !!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats !! I like the Half Track !!! Tell me more about the ammo trailer !!
It´s wheels are similar to those used in the half track !! Is that trailer only for half tracks ?
Talking about your SPEN, I´m anxious to see your photos.
Tks in advance.
Cheers

Thank You Charlie ... Ammo trailers were assigned to mostly artillery units and antiaircraft units during WWII and Korea.  My half-track is a Antiaircraft HT so it would have pulled one of these trailers filled with extra ammo for the MAXSON Turret that fits in the back .. the turret has 4 .50 Cal Machine gums mounted in it... very effective back in the day .. and it would have used a lot of ammo!  The wheels were interchangeable with the track in a pinch/if needed.  My HT saw service in Europe (WWII), Korean War 52-54, Vietnam with the French Foreign Legion 54-56, Somalia with the French Foreign Legion from 56-58 when the track broke down and was left to sit in Djibouti until I recovered it in 2006.

Some of those pics you asked for .. hope they help.

Hi Mark.
Tks for your photos.
I don´t want to talk or discuss too much about HT in this topic Smile, because we´ll be censored Wink .
Better come back about the SPEN.SmileSmile
Which marks has the reflector ? Looks original.
Here is mine :
It´s oval as yours, but I think has different inscriptions.
I´m sure your rear lamp is not original and where the licence plate bracket is fixed doesn´t look original either.Confused
Here is a photo of one licence plate bracket which I think it´s original.
It belongs to a friend´s SPEN
Yours looks very similar........
I guess the spare wheel showed is not original, because don´t have the hub cups clips.
This is an original SPEN wheel.
I guess the 2 on the trailer with the hub cups, must be like the one shown.
Cheers and thanks for share.

Charlie ,, I;m going to say that the rear lights are pretty much the same with the difference in the mounting bracket on the trailer .. If I were to remove the light from the mounting bracket and photograph it the same way it would look alike .. manufactures often used what ever lights were available on the line or from what ever the supplier had available .. have seen that on much of my WWII and Post WWII equipment to include item changes/substitutions in the middle of a production run as the manufacture may have run short of an item and used whatever was available from any vendor who could supply the component.

As in todays manufacturing systems, its very expenseve to keep large amounts of items sitting in a bin on the chance that you might use them if and when you do a production run.

Verified those clips on two wheels on the trailer, they have them .. you were right on in your assessment that the third wheel is a spare Tongue

Hi Mark,
thanks for your message.
Has your lamp a transparent glass for the licence plate?
I found a DIETZ lamp, which looks very similar to the ARROW 41 used on T3-C trailers.
Unfortunately I didn´t check my friend´s trailer lamp Disapprove so I don´t know the lamp´s brand.
What surprised me was that my friend´s lamp is not attached to the bracket with screw/bolts.
It looks (as yours) glued to the licence plate bracket. Shocked
I copied my friend´s licence plate and this is how it looks in my trailer.
Note: in one of the SPEN´s adv. is mentioned that you can use your car´s spare wheel in the trailer and for that reason the trailer don´t have one.
In our case (5 lugs), you can´t use Jeep´s wheels in the SPEN Confused .Very odd thing !!
If you have a chance, I would appreciate some photos of the standing leg and how the security chains are attached to the trailer hitch. I want to compare with mine.
Tks and cheers.

Width:
How thick is the steel "Its Gage" :
How high are the sides on the metal as it is flat with two high sides on each edge"

Thank You,

Hi Mark,
sorry , you are right, the total length of the top bows is 2100 mm
Regarding how the top bow were made is a 3 steps story.
1..- I went to a steel shop and asked for blend a steel plate (I guess gauge #12) with dimensions
shown in the photos.
The steel plates nominal size was 8 feet (2440 mm)long, so I had 3 profiles with that dimensions.
2.- The second step was find a shop where the top bows could be blended.
I found one where blend pipes, steel profiles etc. They mentioned that was better to have extra mm long, because the machine can catch the profile and blended in a better way.
They did a very good job as you can see in the photo.
3.- As the bows had a 340 mm (2440 vs 2100) more than the original, I cut 170 mm from each side.
Here is the SPEN with the 3 top bow black painted
Cheers,

Great Mark.
that´s a good new !!
Let give to the SPEN the real look !!
What did you think about the canvas ??
I´m lost about how must it be in the back !!
Do you have any idea which could be a good way to close the back of the canvas ?
Cheers.

Jajajajajajaja !
Why not ??
Could be a possibility.
I was thinking in a more secure and wind resistant door.
One possibility is made something similar to the CJ-2A canvas.
What do you think ?
Cheers,

Charlie, I like the look of the canvas in the CJ2 Top regards the end-curtin on the back of the Spen Tarp.  I was thinking that I would have the Tarp made with heavy duty zippers on the end-curtin that would zip up 3/4 of the length on both sides (The top of the end curtain would be sewn onto the tarp like the front-curtain) so that I could zip it open and put in or retrieve stuff from the box like so many military trailer tarps that were made in the 50's-thru present day ..but I like the enclodure that you have in your picture of the CJ2 ... The only thing I would do is have those flip-clips facing the outside, and I would have the maker sew a band of canvass onto the top that would cover the clips when the end-curtain was in place to protect the clips and keep water from infiltrating the end/curtain.

Here are some pics on an original trailer tarp from the 50's.  It on one of my M101A1 Trailers that i have for my Dodge M37's.  The canvas is one piece with the front and end curtains being sewn into the top.  Buckles and ropes snug the front and end curtain onto the trailer when closed.
