So I figured my starter was the problem of "no go" and remover it. Sure enough, it was frozen. I removed the brushes and pulled the round body. Re=assembly, it turns. My question; Do I need to de-magnitize the starter for it to turn with power. Somewhere I read it an eon ago and am wondering if that is fact.

I have rebuilt a few hundred of these so far. I have never de-magnitized either a generator or starter, or for that matter, any other motor, AC or DC. They have all worked just fine for me without de-magnitizing anything. I have had to re-magnitize a few generators by "flashing the field". IHTH, Cpt Logger. |
