I have the opportunity to buy a running cj2a f. It's missing the steering box and needs new floor pans I was told. Going to look at it this week . The guy told me the steering gear boxes were hard to find. Not worried about floor boards. I have a welder. Just need some help with the steering gear box.
Thanks for the help. I'm a sucker for a jeep. Edited by zjeeping95 - 09 Nov. 2011 at 10:31pm |

I might have a box for you.
I have been playing with MB/GPWs and do not know much about the CJ2As. I am usually on the G503.com forum. However this last weekend I brought home a 2A chassis and have a bit of a learning curve to adjust to. I didn't take the tub because it was too far gone. The steering tube/shaft was already disconnected from the box. However, since the wheel was still on the shaft, I couldnt get it off of the tub, so I had to leave it!
Long story short, I have a box bolted on the frame and no tube! I am not sure what box is appropriate for the CJ2A, but if you are interested, I will gladly clean the crud off of it and see what markings I can find.
I am near Charleston, SC, so shipping won't be too bad.
Let me know-
Bo

Looks like a good start! I'd grab it! Box shouldn't be a problem.

Hmmm, it's got a steering column & wheel, so it must still have the worm shaft. Did someone just remove the box from the bottom of the worm shaft? Sean

I bought it. I just got to get a good steering box now. I talked him in to leaving the roll bar. He did tell me today that the wheels don't go with it. It comes with some 15 inch wagon wheels . Oh well. I'm pretty pumped.
