So how many of y'all have kept track of how much $$ you have put into your jeep project? I made the "mistake" of putting mine on a spread sheet...
Shocked Confused  now I know why these things sell for so much when they are done!

I did save all my parts invoice And marked everything in a book and I did all the labour on the Jeep except for the machining of the engine.I put the engine back together and my total is around $8500 Canadian and that for a frame off rebuild. Mine was really in bad shape .

LOL I think I am pushing $15,000 into mine but then I paid a whole $2.00 for mine. But I am going way past what most people do. I am more like building a new Willys Jeep with a few old parts.

Once the Aluminum insulated hard to is done I think I could be pushing $17,000

There are some things you should just ignore. I know I have around $2000 in one Jeep and around $1800 in the other. I just don't worry. It was my mothers bit.

OutQUOTE] I cant even imagine spending that much on a Jeep. Our first Jeep was $500 and it ran and shifted. I have given away a lot of Jeep parts.

I am all in at about $13,000 to $13,500. It's really hard to hit the brakes when everything else looks so good and just this one more part to finish it off.  That price of course is not being paid for any labor.  If you figure that in more like the $20,000+ cost.

The proper answer to that trick question is 'yes, honey, if thats what you really want'.   Any other response leads to a rabbit hole.

Jeeps are unbelievably expensive, I don’t even want to know how much I’ve spent. I sure enjoy driving them around though.

I just bought mine 2 weeks ago, and that was $7600. It needs a lot of everything, who knows where this will end up money wise. I was looking at a few that were "done" 14k to 19k range. So far I am just doing nickel and dime things to start off.

I've only bought junk Jeeps and parts that i put together to get my 2A so it is easier for me to be in denial about the complete total I have spent. LOL

Go out and buy a Polaris Razor 4 seater that in 95% of areas you can't even drive to Dairy Queen for a Ice Cream cone and then tell me how expensive completely rebuilding a Willys Jeep is.

I haven't kept the best records on mine. But I'll be around $9500 once all is said and done. That will include the trailer though. So i don't think that's too bad.

The crawler however.....that I can tell you over time has cost a fortune. And I will NEVER even get a third of it back. At least I'm in good shape if i ever needed to sell the current project.

Be smart. I have less than $4.000 in 2 jeeps. Both have V6s and both have upgraded brakes and both have winches. You can find them.
