That's good to know Lee and certainly could be the ideal way to do it.

I was thinking myself that tig welding up the spline voids would be far superior to just using brass.

Just never ran across anyone locally who has a furnace to anneal and re-harden the casing.

I would expect that previously case hardened parts would be rather difficult to anneal.
You can't remove the casing carbon from the steel.
Re-hardening would involve critical time and temperatures.

I'm sure the Tera gears are case hardened because I've had my brand new TL intermediate gear machined to accept Timken bearing cups.

Making a new spline center hub should be do-able.
