Just fired it up for the first time.  Sounds neat and now to slowly continue forward with it.

Did you decide to install it? Over the summer I picked up a '66 CJ5 chassis with 225. I am thinking about installing the 225/trans/t-case and axles in our '2A, along with some other mods while I have it apart. It will be a long term project, too, getting everything disassembled cleaned, painted and reassembled and ready to swap. I may do a low gear set in the t-case since the CJ5 axles have 4.27 gears, and also a Saginaw steering box. Onward and upward, or is Downward and Darkward?

I have not, I need to do something as the second drivetrain takes up precious barn space. The biggest hurdle is time.

yes this is a old thread but while reading through it some of you guys brought up that your 225 V6  did not have a camshaft spring or button. I just  tore down a original factory motor with ALL stock parts and it did not have a camshaft button. The cam looked good BUT the fuel eccentric was worn.

How did your timing gears look?  There was plastic covered aluminum pieces everywhere inside the timing cover on mine and it nearly had any miles on it.  I think the cam button thing is really funny. I did end up adding one to my engine.

I forgot to add that I did finally start up the dauntless a few months ago.  It started immediately and sounds super nice.  It is still sitting, taking up space in the barn, but it is now just sleeping as opposed to being lifeless.
