I have 2 pics to show, if either are too small, I can take them again.. 1st. is from #195769, and show a flat spot on top, much like the discussion earlier of the water pumps,2nd, from #31662, shows that it has a threaded opening, with what appears to be heater hose fittings..
again, i do not have any parts manuals, so someone else will have to help with part numbers..low

That looks like a Valve in your 2nd pic. Looks like you have the same valve at the end of your block (next to the fire wall) That is the location I usually see for a heater. I haven't seen it on top of the thermostate housing like that before. I'm not sure if these are the correct valves for the parts #'s in the book but here is the #'s
From the '45 parts list

I have a MB motor from a generator that has the same threaded housing. In my case it seems to be for some type of temp sensor. The motor is a spare so I never really looked into it's function.

It's for an overtemp shutdown switch on a PE-95 generator.
