Nick,
On page 155 in the Service Manual for Universal Jeep Vehicles is a very good drawing of how the clutch linkage and all of its parts is laid out. You’re going to need that manual. In fact, you need it now. Better get one. BW

That BW guy knows a tad bit about Jeeps--------. He drives over rocks and shifts with no clutch faster than grease lightning. If you don't believe me, just follow him sometime. I enjoy telling him which way to turn out on the trail. It's usually wrong, but he understands.

A correction to my earlier post about the cable length so that I'm not putting out bad info. I stumbled across a picture of the old cable and the replacement. The replacement cable was about an inch LONGER than the original.
I cant recall who I got it from, but they remarked that they had run into this a couple times where the OEM was shorter. They indicated that the replacement usually worked. Now, if I remember correctly, I could not get it to fully disengage the clutch disk and give proper pedal free play. So, this may not apply to your situation unless you replaced a longer cable with a shorter one. Micah |

Well, some good news. After crawling underneath and looking at the diagram it appears someone had added an extra spring to the linkage that kept some extra pressure on the clutch pedal? It was just wrapped around and rigged on? I just took it off and the throw out bearing went back as at should. I adjusted it a bit and clutch feels good. I think I will addthe extra adjuster for the future adjustment though. Thanks everyone for all the help. So glad I didn't pull the transmission. You guys saved me days of frustration! Nick

Nick, good deal. We can tell you things as you find other problems also---------. If you ask guys how long they have been working on Jeeps, some since 13 years old, and add them together------------------------we have 100's of years of experience. Oilly
