I'm still rebuildind the early '45 front axle. Today i removed the tie-rod ends... not easy, I'll be dealing with the pipe wrench marks. Man these guys fought me all the way, anyway I noticed the construction and location of the grease zerk odd compared to all the ones on other Jeeps in the yard. All the others have the grease zerk on the bottom. I'm not saying these are correct as I don't know, just looking for other observations from the folks here.

Gary,
Maybe this is a war time design? It would seem to me that the side mounted zerks would be less vulnerable to being broken off than the bottom mounted ones. Just a thought that popped to mind.
