Since I don't have any pictures of a build going on right now, I thought I'd show you all some pics of a build I did a few years ago that turned out pretty well.

My two girls wanted a cool wagon to be pulled around in at the state fair… OK, actually I wanted a cool wagon, cuz I never had one.

Sniffle sniffle…

I asked my girls, 4 and 6, what they wanted in a wagon and they said they wanted it to be pink...
…What “I” heard though, was something about a double triangulated 4 link coilover suspension system with 4 wheel steering, simulated beadlocks, front and rear bumper with D-ring shackles and rear receiver hitch, rear diamond plate cooler rack, and they said it had to look like a 1947 Jeep CJ2A with removable hood.

I was shocked to hear that they even knew about this stuff at such a young age, let alone where in the world they could have learned about it, but who was I to judge…

…I was on a mission.

I set out on my mission by building a cardboard replica of the body to get the scale size figured out and to see if it would actually look like a Jeep and meet with their approval.
I made one model, but they wanted to be able to squeeze in themselves and their 2 buddies so I ended up with a .35 scale model.

Of course I wasn’t about to build some wimpy wagon that they would outgrow in a few years, (or that I would wreck flying down our hill...) so I made the entire body out of 11 gauge steel.

I then built a frame out of 1” square tubing, and built some axles, (portal type) out of 1.5” round pipe. Then I tacked them in place to figure out the link locations.

Then I started working on the links and the steering system.

Mounted the body tub, and figured out how to make the compound bends in the hood. Made the bumpers, cooler rack and beadlock rings.

Finally, I painted and mounted the body. It’s not exactly the lightest wagon out there… who am I kidding… it’s one of the heaviest, but it rolls extremely easy and was relatively easy to pull my two kids and a bunch of other stuff at the fair this past summer. We’ve also been asked to be in 2 parades with it, which the kids loved too! The handle can be made into a tow bar to be pulled by an ATV which is great for buzzing around the yard.

Boy what a good dad. That’s impressive work for just a little pull behind wagon. Nice job!

With that high a CG I expected a full roll cage tied into the frame.

They get a full roll cage when they keep their rooms clean for a week!
