hey guys,

I found this 1/4 ton trailer, and while I know it's not a Bantam, and not of CJ2A vintage, I may buy it anyway as it is in great shape and pretty cool in its own right.  It will serve me well until I can someday find a nice one to better match my '46.  most significant details on the back name plate: Stevens MFG. Part# G14M, Model G14M65  delivery date: 11/66.  there are also contract numbers, trailer size and weight specs,  etc...  what do such trailers sell/buy for?  I've done a wee bit of research and can't find anything about a G14M trailer.
  thanks, Shaun

Yes it is M416.  Google that and you can get additional info.  A couple on Military Vehicles ebay now.   Also, g503 has a section for trailers as does this site.  $450.00-950.00=condition, tires & etc.

They are nice sturdy, almost indestructible trailers.  $400 to $500 would be a good price.  Although we may know they are not vintage, they look good behind a CJ2A.  The square fenders compliment the flat fenders.  Most have a working manual park brake.  Despite their size and weight they are balanced well enough that I can move mine around by hand on flat ground without any help.  One came with the Airport Jeep and I just painted it with a brush with POR 15 and then rattle canned it over the POR 15 before the POR15 fully cured.  Now it is ready for OD Green to match the Airport Jeep and some stencils.  I have another that I may paint yellow to match my 47 tub.

thanks for the comments.  I've never given these a look before, but it does seem very well built and is so rust free it is hard to believe.  I like the flat fenders and one wonders why the early Bantams that were made to go with the CJ2A had round fenders when flat is so much easier and cheaper to produce.  I hope to own this thing by weeks end.  Thanks for the insight, guys.

Another nice thing about a 416 is that the tub is bolted to the frame so they can be separated easily.

My friend has the following rebuilt M416 for sale.  New canvas on an extended top and a trailer spare tire under the trailer.  Looks really sharp.  Probably not in the under $500 range, although I did not ask his price.  If anyone is interested, I will inquire.

I also had a Stevens 1966 m416. Sold mine about a year or so ago for $900. Was very straight and rust free.
