Shift Rod Seals
Group 18-01
Part # A 974
Spicer # SP-13-463-1
These are probably the original shift rod seals and are from my gearbox.
Victor # 49360, Leather (rawhide) material
They were thicker than the replacement rubber lip seals that I have gotten from a couple of different dealers. I install the new seals after I am finished with the case reassembly and adjustments. I apply some tape or similar on the shift rods to protect the seal lip from damage while sliding the seal in place, prelube the seal lip. I instal the new seals all the way into the recess of the front bearing cap. I do not want gear oil collecting and standing behind the new thinner seal.
Here are the new replacements.
And here they are installed...my transfercase is upside down in this photo.
