A friend has done an amazing job fixing up a 2A from, literally, a pile of parts.  The engine is an odd fire V6 that was paired with a T14.  The trans was trashed, so the guy at the salvage yard gave him this "old Jeep transmission".  The input gear is shown and is about 9".

I'm confused as to what you want to identify.  The input shaft?  The Transmission?  Both?  The JY gave ya'll an old transmission but the pics are of a transmission mounted in a vehicle.

He wants to I.D. the transmission.  He got the trans in and made it work, but now is thinking about rebuilding it.  Of course he needs to know what trans it is to order new bearings, seals etc.  What more info do we need to get a better idea what he has?

The input gear was shown to help i.d. the trans.  He got two shafts with the "new" trans.

We need more detail.
Diameter of the maindrive ?
Diameter of the pilot tip ?
Input tooth count ?
Have a pic showing inside of trans ?
Or a pic showing the shift tower ?

Maybe a T86AA ?
Can’t really tell…without better detail.

The left side of the tranny looks strange to me.
It’s certainly not a T90, T15 nor T18.
I can’t really discern the viewpoint of the other pic.
But think maybe we’re looking at a T14.
Not sure but a look at the top of the shift tower would help a lot.

I will be back down to see him this week, so I'll try to get a pic of the shift tower.  And thanks for looking, I was hoping you would add your .02 worth!
