Yes I think the change from 215 to 223 was for the 55 model year. Mostly the same thing, different bore.
As to swapping a Falcon/Comet/Mustang 6 into a CJ, if I had a complete CJ with a dead engine and a wrecked Falcon with a good engine you bet I'd try it. I think the only real downside is the length. Unless you were there in the 60s and 70s messing with anything that rolled, you might not realize just how common those things were. Cheap, simple, reliable and lighter than you might think. I think they are about 40 pounds more than a Go Devil. A 200 would be twice the power bone stock.

I just removed a running 170 from my early Econoline van. If someone wants to try this, you can have the engine.
