If anyone is looking to upgrade to a 12V H4 Halogen type headlight that looks pretty original. I just got a Paid of Hella Vision Plus Conversion Headlamps from Summit racing $74.92 (I added a 5 qt jug of oil to the order to get free shipping (Over $99)

The preliminary assembly trail of my headlight cups and rings all look like they will be a no cut no fuss installation.

I plan on running Wire Mesh Headlight Guards over then and the ones I have fit inside the hold down ring and the Bulb has a very stock shape to it the guards end up 3/8" to 1/2" away from the lens.

Just thought I would pass them along as I had to look a long time to find ones that weren't either flat lenses or had a big step that would have prevented the Mesh Guards.

HLA-002395801 ECE HOLOGEN CONVERSION KIT.

Granted not for the purist. But for someone wheeling or modified a nice option for some more light.

Mark,
I have a '71 Maverick that I upgraded to a Lucas European lamp and Sylvania XE bulbs.

If you weren't already planning, to get the most out of it with these old wiring harnesses, install two relays powered directly from the battery and switched by the original wires from the headlight switch. Replace the wiring from the relay to the bulbs with heaver gauge.

This will take the strain off the old harness and switch which was not designed for the current draw of halogens. Also, just a volt or two drop will have a dramatic reduction in light output.

Good point I should have mentioned. Yes all my wiring is being upgraded as to both Gauge and insulation. I will be using dual relays and even have upgraded to a GM (mid 60's to mid 70's) Headlight switch.

Since everything in my electrical system is going to be new I am going to make it as close to bullet proof as I can.

Those Hellas look way better then the older set of Hellas that was on my Cherokee. I upgraded those to LED's but it gives it this weird alien/ futuristic look that I don't want to use on my 2A.

May have to go with these. Price is decent. I already have relays on both Jeeps to add that little bit of extra nighttime brightness we need around here for the deer, elk, pedestrians, tourists, drunks...
