Where else besides the dash plate can you find serial #/vin/ID number on the willys ? If not on the frame should the frame be stamped  or Numbered marked or whatever ? ?

under the hood.....passenger side....above starter on the firewall in the upper corner. Also on the drivers side frame rail.....inside the bumper/frame rail right where your sag steering is.

My old MB was fun. No number matched. It was titled as a 1946. Um, they quit making them in 1945? Just fight the system. My brother bought a M38. same paperwork battle. I finally went over to fold the passenger seat foreword to see an old Vin number. OH? no number matched?

Yeah, lol, Jeep salads.

The firewall tags were not permanently attached with spot welds, just screwed on, so many were removed over the years or changed in later years when parts from multiple Jeeps are used to put one together.

Mine was titled with the engine number... except, that engine is gone and another resides in its place. Nowhere on my Jeep is a vin number that coresponds to the one on my title. At some point in time I will probably rebuild an engine, surface the deck, and restamp it with my title vin.Confused

His '46 has the 3 Data plates screwed to the dash so it "should be" a early/med  '46 but I did not see evidence of it being a VEC.   P.O. did a lot of mods including stiffening the front frame for the Sag P/S system. Sooo the I.D tag may be gone or buried.  He has a nice 2A.
