I'm hoping/planning to put together two Jeep tool kits for the Fall Color Tour.
One kit is for Mike Picard, the other is to be part of the raffle/doorprize.

These won't be 'new' tools, and they won't be the 'factory correct' tool kit that came with the Jeeps either.

I've been frequenting the tool vendors at the flea markets and gathering 1940's and 1950's American made wrenches and sockets from 3/16 to 2.5 inches. Once I get them all in one place and cleaned up I will know how many duplicates I have.

So if you have a favorite style of tool such as offset double ended box wrenches, tell me the size and what part of the Jeep you use it on. It seems there were at least 3 lengths common, and thin open ends for tappets.

I already donated a monstrous brake drum puller 2 years ago, and my first purchase  this year was a stud puller to donate.

A picture or description of your favorite would be great, and I'll start a running list.

Admittedly, I'm probably going to keep the Plumb wrenches, but I have Bonney, Williams, Herbrand, Proto, Duro, etc.

Maybe once the kits are assembled someone could make rolls for them out of scrap canvas? Hint Hint.

Wow!  What a fantastic idea, and gift!  Thank you for doing this.  It'll be really interesting to see what you come up with.  I may be seeing a new rolling tool chest in my future, to store all these old tools in.

It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

Screw drivers for the carbonator jets, Vacuum Gauge,

My favorite CJ2A wrench is a double box end offset Craftsman short wrench with the outer lobs ground for tight fit locations.  It is great for U-Joints and as hold wrench for the back side of nuts and bolts.

I have also been collecting lots of vintage American made wrenches and sockets. I hate junk tools. Let me know if I can contribute anything. I have collected several extras such as drag link sockets which can come in handy on occasion

52 MC - Trail Jeep (Iron Duke, T18, Scout 300, Dana 30F Dana 44 Rear, ARBs etc.)

I snapped up about 10 of the 1/2 - 9/16 shorty offset boxes in various brands and offsets.
None were craftsman though. I'll add pictures when I get a chance.

And I got the drag link sockets...

This is why I was hoping for some advice what everyones 'favorite' or most useful Jeep tools were.
I guess I'll just send one or two of  each...

Hi Muley:

Well, they are the correct 16" diameter . . . but they require a 5.5" wide rim instead of the narrower 4.5" solid disc rim I'm using on CJ2-26. Then there is the matter of fender wells. I'm afraid the "clearancing" necessary to fit these huge donuts on #26 would alter its appearance worse than a scramble up and tumble down Carnage Canyon at the FCT.  So I'll pass on installing them on #26 and just use one under the deserving Snap-On mobile tool chest.  Wink
