Is that the same jeep you posted a photo of in the other thread?

You
would think for $6,283 ($66, 843.30 in today’s dollar) you would at least get a
front license plate holder. Look at that thing, a couple windshield straps. Micah |

If you look closely at it, it is a Dealer plate. West Vancouver would have registered it after this picture was taken. They would have taken the plate and expensive straps back to the dealership.

Clearly the fire department's apparatus maintenance guys weren't consulted with the placement of that siren/light unit on the hood. It totally negates the ability to tilt the Willys hood far back to work on the engine.

On the far left Charles Sorenson and far right Ward Canaday. Charles Sorenson was production chief with Ford until March 1944 when he became President of Willys Overland. Ward Canaday was his predecessor.

How Willys execs let that 2A be photographed without its headlamp rings has always baffled me about that image. Old "Cast-Iron Charley" Sorenson and Canaday weren't on their game that day. Ford would have never allowed a new vehicle to be photographed in plant (even during WWII) with visible parts missing.

That is incorrect. The hood tilts back just fine. Full engine compartment access.
The only issue, which isn't really an issue, is the windshield can't be dropped forward onto the hood.

Is the siren/light unit mounted on the cowl, rather than on the hood?

This picture should show you.......When we tilt the hood we put a pad down so the siren doesn't dent the sheet metal. I have a full view picture of our Willys fire truck in the Jeep Photos and Stories Forum under the Fire Jeep stream. |

Fire Jeep: thanks for sharing the profile shot--wow, that siren tucks right into the space above the cowl when the hood is raised! Beautiful restoration of an historic and untypical 2A.

Grace Kelly, raising money for a local charity. Parked in front of her family home on Henry Street in Manayunk Philadelphia. Maybe hardcore 2A spotters could give a guess on the year. Light color, but dark painted under the fenders? Also has a step...
