I’m working on getting my 3b going. Maybe it’ll be ready next year.  It was good meeting everyone.  I had a blast.

Damage report up date.
As I was driving her today deer hunting, I had a hard time shifting the Dana 18 into high,  the shifter did not want to come all the way back in to high. As I studied it driving down the road, I found that the shifter was no longer centered in the opening on the floor. I found when I was done for the day that indeed it did move to the rear and in the process broke my engine mounts.

I think this was the issue on the trail with both my clutch linkage falling out twice and my throttle not staying at idle when there was torque applied.

On a similar note, I believe I had a bad motor mount also.  I’ll follow up with my damage report after I get the action videos posted.

I've been thinking about making up some stronger motor mounts, but haven't had the time. For now I've been carrying a spare motor mount in X98

That is interesting. I don't believe I ever broke an engine mount on a 134. I did one on a V6 and my mothers '61 Buick tore one out. I went out to change the oil in my Volvo and wondered why I can't get the oil filter off. Take a close look and both engine mounts are shot. Probably explains the strange shifting as well.
My brother worked with a guy that built cars for the short track races in Denver. The guy liked the big GMC V6s so when they set up a car they had to run a chain from a head bolt to the frame so they didn't destroy the engine mount.

I don't think they are that old. The engine was rebuilt with in the last five years before I got it.

   Great memories right !

I like that obstacle on #3 video where you say "steep drop here".
That is quite a challenge some times climbing back up that dust covered rock !

My last year into the Rubicon trail was 2001. Myself, the wife and 3-kids and 2-dogs would go in from the Wentworth Springs portal, and travel in as far as Rubicon Springs, and then turn around a climb back up and out back to the Loon Lake Spillway. I always did enjoy climbing up the Big Old Sluice. The Big Old Sluice is a good climb to have a T-98 or Granny 4-spd or Terra-Low gears.

It really is amazing that the little Willys don't break more often on this punishing trail.   I wonder if the Dentist's benefit from trail-goer's because this Rubicon trail will shake your fillings Loose.    hahahaha

Walker-Hill will always make the gloves get moist without P.Steering.

There is a jeep trail up out of Fresno, California called the Swampy-Lake trail which a local one year told me it is like a "mini-Rubicon" and that was while I had taken my father on the Dusy-Ershim trail which is a bit higher in elevation than the Swampy-Lake trail. _ _ _ just a thought.
Yes, I had to winch through a portion of the Thompson-Hill on the Dusy.
    Great stuff.

FYI, I can confirm that there is Verizon cell service at the top of Walker Hill.

Great videos Rick!!! I particularly like the introductions on Day 1. The editing, titling, and transitions were top notch. Earlier this year I took notice of how the additional gearing improved Gus in Moab, but from the video footage of the Rubicon it appears that it made a world of difference on this trail. I have seen you make great climbs in the past, but now you are able to actually crawl up some of the obstacles. It has to be much easier on you, the little "L" head, and your clutch!

Nice video, Rick!  Good luck on the glove.  I would recommend a length of flex tube in that exhaust.  (signed, Captain Obvious)
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable
