Hi Guys from England,
We have just acquired a 1946 CJ2A, minus the engine. we have a chance of one from the States.
To get a quote for shipping (!!) we will have to know the weight. The one we are looking at is
complete but missing clutch, flywheel and bellhousing, exhaust and intake manifold. Just a bare
block, basically.
Does anyone have an idea what the weight would be?
We will be grateful for any info.
Thanks
Ps this could be the first of a number of questions if that is ok

If you have All-American Wonder, Volume Two, on page 216 is a chart listing weights of WWII jeeps.  It says

"Engine complete, less trans., and transfer case...........Ford 425.00 lbs...........Willys 432.00 lbs"

The list shows the flywheel at 24.5 lbs, bell housing at 19.5 lbs.  It doesn't show the manifolds or the starter or generator so you're probably around 350 lbs. or so for just a short block and head.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

Fully dressed, with head, manifolds, and other peripherals, they weigh in around 550 Lbs.
If you can't get there in a Jeep you don't need to be there!

If this is worth anything, I weighed just the block and it came out to about 160 lbs. And that is just the bare block with a few tappets stuck
