No posts. Nobody working on their Jeeps? This weekend it was time to do the yearly maintenance. This
year, I only put 1,200 miles on her. Prior years I was putting 2,000-2,500. I
think all the never ending rain we have been getting has restricted my use. Maybe,
someday, I will fit my aluminum half cab. New oil and filter, chassis lube, lube the throttle linkage,
clean the air filter, clean the plugs and some adjustments to the Solex.
Distributor has an old home-made electronic conversion. So, no points. It is
stuck, so timing is at 5*. The alternator was not aligned well and the belt was making
a bit of noise at idle. I fiddled with this for a while and it appears to be
much better. The valve cover was leaking a little and a new gasket was
installed. I briefly thought about adjusting the valves. I didn’t feel like
searching for my hand crank and the idea of pulling the fender was less than
appealing. So, that though got abandoned. She runs great. I think they are OK.
This did give me a chance to take a look at the PCV. I thought it was good but
one of the elbows was 99.9% clogged and the valve itself needed a good
cleaning. I realized that I previously changed all the
fluids except the front differential. It was pretty low and the fluid looked old.
She has been parked in the garage for the last four days. I
was surprised to see no oil on the epoxy floor. Not a drop. I did discover a
few drops of antifreeze coming from the rear freeze plug. I put some stop leak
in the radiator. After a good test drive and sitting for a few hours, the floor
is spotless. Must be something wrong. Micah |

Thanks. I was surprised to see it. They posted it a while back and must have been short on new material.
