Ooooh. So glad we got that rain, too. Finally got some mud from the nearby snowmobile trail.

I think that’s the power line trail down on the Mid-Coast? Rode that one many years ago with the Mid-Coast Jeep club. Pretty views.
Pre-digital camera days

do you know anything about the off road park in Carthage, Maine? It looks like it could be a good place to play but also looks like it could go wild and crazy in a blink.

Today? Pulling sticks out of the sideyard to make way for the wife’s steel pond, early, before the Black Flies wake up.

powerline trails near Warren ME. off of mountain road.

i do not know anything about the off road park in Carthage. i don't have a trailer and neither of my Jeeps are highway drivers. so i pretty much stick close to home.

and the black flies are awake near the coast. if i am not itching from the brown moth caterpillars, the black fly bites will for sure keep me from sleeping. then the mosquitoes.

Just got a trailer last month. Twenty years ago we would take off in the Willys for the Bethel trails or down to the coast for those power line roads. Old and cranky now, (me, not the jeep) so I talked the wife into a trailer if she got her swimming hole. The excavator just showed up today. The Jeep got its first trailer ride two days ago when the battery died at the neighbor’s.

What did I do today? Found a puddle of water under my new project named :"B-Minus". Sounds reasonable except it has no cooling system. After some detective work it turns out my air compressor, that is 25 years old, rusted thru the tank. The water came from there. Something else to do that is not project related. (sigh)

It went well Chug was well received. Even let a couple young boys sit in Chug.

I kind of get what you are saying but, I think you sell these American Classics short and you deprive yourself of the most exhilarating aspect of driving one; mud washes off, Low-Low, with a light touch on the throttle, a righteous line and a big smile will get you through most rock situations that have even the big-tire boys sweating.
Twenty years ago, I was having more fun, same ride.

Personal opinion but, nothing beats granny low 4low in a stock, vintage CJ easing up a dried creek bed in the Maine “mountains” on a summer morning with the windshield down.

Yes. Well, this was in fact the second most stupid thing that I’ve done in my Jeep. The most stupid thing I’ve done was crossing the beaver bog the first time. The other side was a dead end at an old logging site with no other way out. These pictures are of me coming back.
The drive home from there by Jeep is about three hours. No problems all the way home. The next weekend I drained all the lubricant fluids no signs of water. Some foaminess in the pan of the air cleaner but that I suspected. I know that the diff vents were functioning correctly because I was fascinated by them and how they worked the year before when I began my Willys journey. So the answer is little to none on the water.
You couldn’t pay me enough to do it again.

Not being critical. Just my humble opinion. You had a blast and you're happy, that's what matters. Nice Willys, BTW.

Just back and forth into town a couple of times, picked up some battery parts for the plow truck and added a couple of cleats where we dock the pontoon boat. I’m getting a little nervous though, it’s been a month and 100 miles since I put the tranny and T-case back in and still no leaks. If I hadn’t of just changed out the oil this week I’d think it was out of oil Smile

Did our standard New Radiator Woodward Avenue Test. Clarkston to Ferndale and back on a Saturday night. New radiator kept it under 190 down and back, so that's a pass. I was told by the passenger of Hyundai Veloster N that my old Jeep is "Sick", and that I should give him a fist bump. I did, and I guess it is, in one sense of the word.

Got the fuel pump fixed and got rid of the old Willy's. Wife said last year I drove it 3 miles total and insurance cost me $100. per mile. Guess I've lost interest. Gary
