This post was actually really helpful, and timed perfectly.

I put a new belt on this spring, now that I have put a couple hundred miles on the clock, I had this same exact noise.

Thanks to your post I checked and the belt was a little loose. Problem solved.

Thumbs Up

My Volvo squacks in the cold if I have thee headlights on after starting and it runs 2 twin belts. It goes away. Fan belts shorten up as they heat up.

Let me get this straight, Your Volvo has 3 headlights, & 4 fan belts?

The only rigs that I am familiar with having 3 headlights is the Tucker, & some home built trikes.

Why does Volvo use 4 fan belts? Even the Peterbuilt only uses three. Yet, the Volvo's belts still squeal?

I must be missing something here.

Actually, it has 2 headlights and 3 fanbelts. 2 are for the water pump and alternator and the third runs the power steering and AC.

Then none of them are fan belts. Wink   BW

Bruce, you don't need to yell at me. I have been doing Volvos for over 40 years and jeeps for over 50 years.

Are you just giving me crap or are you giving me crap aout Volvos? I Have had people ride in my jeeps and my old Volvos.
They all went out and bought something similar. My neighbor taught special education and I pretty much gave away some of my cars to his students so they could get to work. I don't need to defend Volvos. I had one that could get rubber in two gears and it would outrun a Audi in the hills.
