After decades of using a vise, I saw this while looking at tooling at work.  Looks to be an easy tool, but kinda pricey but hey quality tools are worth the money. So what are yall using for ujoint removal in your garage?  Added this to my gotta have list

Belleview ol skool winch soon.

That does look handy . . could go even faster if using a small impact.

I use a vise and 20-ton press.

I use a dedicated U-joint and ball joint puller. All of 35 dollars on e-bay.

I use the "C" style ball joint press, I put the clamp in the vice to hold it and position the drive shaft as needed. This works well, unless the driveshaft is very heavy, not a problem with Jeep driveshafts.

C style ball joint press from Harbor Freight also used on various Fords and Chevrolet trucks, cars etc. Very strong.

Wow Bruce, you have a sidewalk? Smile

It must be nice out there on "The Eastern slope", or is it "The Front Range" these days? Wink

I have, in the past, used 2X6s or 4X4s, & cheap, Jap-Crap, sockets along with a BFH, myself. "C" clamps will often work in place of the BFH, sometimes.

I do have a heavy duty picnic table instead of a sidewalk though.Smile

Seriously though, at this time, I have access to a 20 ton press & a lathe to make drifts to press out the cups.

I don't have a sidewalk now, but back when I was a teen-ager, we had one in front of my folks' house in town. I'm not on the "Eastern Slope" or the "Front Range". That's all Yuppie country. Boulder all the way from Pueblo to Fort Collins. I'm clear out on the prairie.  BW

I like these u-joint presses. I clamp mine in the vise and that allows me to lay the drive shaft or axle shaft on the work bench while it's in the press.

I don't like using an impact with u-joints. If the joint doesn't pop out easily, I like to smack the shoulder of the yolk with  a hammer while I've got pressure on the u-joint.

This kit works very well, I find that I use it a lot with all the vehicles in our family fleet.
