There’s a little hook-type thing under my dash, above the starter pedal (or below, if my picture uploads upside down - ha!). I don’t see it represented in any drawings, and haven’t seen it on any other CJs before. I was thinking fire extinguisher, but it’s awfully light and small (not to mention, a weird place for a fire extinguisher).
I am completely out of ideas. Before I take it out, do you have any clue what this thing would have been for? |

Two of the CJ2As I have owned had a similar flashlight bracket but they were mounted to the steering column.

It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

I just saw a bracket listed on ebay as m38 oil sender bracket part # 801749 that looks very close to the one your asking about.

For the USAF version it was a place to mount the flight line
I also once saw a flux capacitor there on a NASA unit Edited by Bitz - 30 July 2021 at 4:41pm |

It’s the “here, hold my beer” bracket, for just before you do something seriously stupid with your Jeep.
