I have a Dana 41 complete rear axle assembly. The Gears are not in my opinion serviceable The brakes are shot (condition of the drums unknown) Axles should be good. Housing appears good rear cover appears good. I need it out of my way ASAP its in the way of where we stack a ton of wood pellets every winter. I have absolutely no use for this. Should I scrap it or what?

Mark, I would try to find it, or parts of it, a new home by posting it in the for sale +/or the for trade section of this site. If you want, you can list it in both, free to someone who will give it a good home. If we were closer, I would help you out with this issue.

Agreed.
Someone will, sooner or later, need axles. Maybe the housing.

I feel your pain. You hate to scrap a piece of history, but you need it out of your way. I end up trying to give away axles, but they rarely find a home - they're too expensive to ship and too rare for the guy down the street to use them. I have a place out in the woods where I store stuff like that - fill it up with oil and set it up off of the ground if possible. If I didn't live in the woods, I would probably scrap them.

My problem is I live on a 62.5' x 105' city lot and if its not in the shop or carport its annoying the neighbors. If I had a Hub puller I guess I could break it down. For now I guess I find somewhere to hide it so I don't trip over it. If my Cherry picker wasn't broke down hiding under my wood working bench it would fit there but then I would have the Cherry picker to trip over and its bigger then the rear end. |

Dennis if you want it its yours. It will be a month or more before I can head that direction. The wife loves the coast so finding a reason to head to Astoria would not be a problem.

Mark / Dennis
If you guys get something worked out let me know. If you don’t I’ll grab it if I can next time I’m passing by on I5. You can pick it up in Longview Dennis. I could probably even be talked into running down Saturday just to lay eyes on Marks Jeep. I do like art.

I missed stopping at Marks. He shoulda been working. But it was the first day he was off when the pipe broke. But today woulda been a good day to stop by. I was putting in the upper bell housing bolts LOL. The left one took 1/2 hour. I have often appreciated being blessed with fat hands without fingers. Stop by anytime your in town. I’m on the hill about 6 miles down stream fro the bridge. Just past Ocean Beach.
