I am restoring a 1947 CJ 2a. I have purchase a new tub as the original was rusted beyond repair. I am going to great lengths to keep it original.

I look at a lot of pictures of CJ 2as on the internet. I noticed that the CJ 2a has a hole with a round cover above the left tail light. My new tub does not have this hole and cover. Can anyone tell me what this hole was for?

The picture below shows the young cover above the taillight.

Thanks!

Ok.  I just got my new tub and it did not come with this cover.  Will I have to make one, or is this something you can buy?

If you want to install the complete unit, RFJP sells them for $90.
