Wheel well differences between 2a and 3a

On the wheel well of the 2a there are two grooves that run the lenght of the wheel well. One is short and the other runs the entire length front to rear.
Did this grooves change and become shorter in later version model Jeeps 3a and so on.
Groove is on both driver and passenger side toward out side panel

I don't have a CJ2A to make a side by side comparison but...
The CJ3A rear wheel well top each has the 2 "grooves". The outer groove extends almost the full length. The front of the inner groove stops just before the footman loop that is about even with the top bow bracket.
