    Posted: 07 Nov. 2009 at 7:12pm

I have revamped some of my tooling and I'm finally ready to start making some window frames.  Here is the original post:

These new tools put very little wrinkle in the radii.  Better than Del's originals

These frames still need to be welded at the seams but this gives you an idea of what they look like.  The seams will be tig welded rather than brazed as I have in the past.

The price will be $30 (+ shipping) for each set of small window frames (2 pieces), and $40 for each set of large frames (doors 2 pieces).

A complete set would consist of frames to do 6 windows. 2 doors, 2 rear curtains, 1 rear flap, 1 half cab rear flap so the entire set would be $200 + shipping.  Sorry to charge so much but these frames are VERY time consuming and it would not  be worth it to make them for any less.

I realize the shape of the economy so I will work with anyone who really wants a set.  I would also consider trading for jeep parts.  If anyone wants to make a trade, PM me and I will give you my wish list.  Mainly I would be looking for parts to restore my '45 or MB parts.

The frames that I make will match these drawings:

I would like to add that my intention is to make these for jeepers who need them and not for guys who want to flip them.

I can't and won't stop that if it happens but that is not what I had in mind.

2 door sets  1 door set  and can a man just get 3 individual rear frames? i plan to have the rear divider panel made so it works for either the half cab or the full top option....

txt me ur wish list, i will see what i have :)

edit: also, just as an fyi....in your listing above, the pricing is stated as "per set", however, the math ($200) equates to individual piece pricing....

prices are fine by me, i just think a little confusing :)

so, my request would be:  2 door frames @ $40/ea. total $80.....3 side/rear frames @ $30 ea. total $90, for a grand total of $170...correct?

Let me clarify.  Each window uses 2 frames.  That is what I mean by "set" so for $40 you get 2 door windows frames or 1 "set" of frames for one window.  $80 gets you 4 door window frames or 2 "sets"

$170 is correct for enough frames to do what you want to do.  That would be 10 total frames 5 inner frames and 5 outer frames.
1 - driver's door outer frame
1 - driver's door inner frame
1 - passenger door outer frame
1 - passenger door inner frame
1 - driver's side rear curtain outer frame
1 - driver's side rear curtain inner frame
1 - passenger side rear curtain outer frame
1 - passenger side rear curtain inner frame
1 - rear flap outer frame
1 - rear flap inner frame

savy?

Eduardo,
I got you down.  If you are looking for door frames (not door window frames), you will need to go to www.topbows.com

These are harder to find than almost any 2A part. I'm aways away from needing a set but I just can't let this pass me by. Put me in for a set for a complete full top.
I'll send you a PM.

Just to let everyone know, these frames are made of 20 gauge (.035) thick galvanized steel.  Galvanized is all I can get from a local heating and air-conditioning company.  I painted mine with no problem using ordinary primer and rustoleum but if you don't want the galvanized coating you will need to sand blast them or something.

Jpet,

Please put me down for one set of the smalls. My Jeep has all originals that took me forever to find. However, I would like to make use of the half cab once in awhile - that was the lowest priority and the only frame I haven't been able to find yet.

Thanks,
Bill

Bill,

Does your half cab have a window cut out in it already?  If it does, compare the cut-out to this drawing to make sure that they will fit:

Jeff (and anyone else):

Galvanize is just zinc, makes an excellent base coat when prepped.  To prep for paint, swab it down w/a mild acid solution (Muriatic, even vinegar works), rinse, dry & paint.

Or strip it entirely by soaking in mild Muriatic until it stops fizzing.

Jpet,

No, the holes are not cut already, but it is marked. I will check when I get time. The flap is tucked away a bit.
