In the UK a replica windshield costs $500 and rusted originals command a high price. This is my 3B screen conversion. I wanted an MB/2A appearance with out the complication of a hinged inner screen. I've used 30 mm tube for the frame and folded the channel sections that retain the glass. The channels are in separate lengths to enable easy assembly on to the glass which is 6 mm, laminated. The rubber seal is 2 mm Nitrile. I've devised a way of securing the channel to the frame so that the glass can be easily replaced. The remaining unresolved problem is finishing of the corners of the channel for cosmetic effect; I'd like to soft solder but might settle for an epoxy resin for fear of cracking the glass |
