I am looking for a complete King-Seeley governor assembly. I have none of the parts currently, so I would like to purchase the complete deal to install on my 45 build. Thanks much.

This is interesting because I have never thought about governing the Willys.
And that is because I have never been interested in an application that required a governor. But, I take it for granted, because my Ferguson TO-20 tractor is governed, and my Lincoln SA-200 welder (continental L-4) is governed. And both engines run at a continuous speed under load. Never thought twice about the governed Willys. But for an application where we need steady rpm, this is it. I bet bunches of these went to the scrap-heap years ago as stationary engines were installed into civilian jeeps without the governor. Len Here is a story for a chuckle, for you guys, but it broke my heart. I was installing the Ford T-18 into my '77 CJ in 1984. I was ready to tap the hole in the back of the case for the Novak adapter plate. Hole drilled - check. Now to Tap threads. I had recently bought a real cool Montgomery Wards electronically controlled variable-speed drill press. Big brain fart - use the drill press for taping the threads !! right. _ _ _ Wrong. when the tap got tight, the drill press applied more amps, and it toasted the circuit board when the tap stalled the drill motor. And the circuit board had been dipped into a blue epoxy. Ever since that Big-Idea, my drill press runs at Mach-6, full speed, and sounds like a Router. It will test a high-speed drill bit for sure. ha Good heavens those governed drill presses don't like taping threads. Edited by Greaser007 - 15 July 2019 at 5:32am |
