Nope. MB’s and GPW’s didn’t have them.

Guess I haven't been paying attention for the last 10 years or so.

Early slat grille with solid rims, not combats. Interesting.

19cargo 42, I'm missing the importance of the rims and tires? Gary

Not overly important, just an indicator of an early-war jeep. Although, from a field maintenance perspective, it made me just realize that the tool kit for a jeep with solid rims probably had to have to a set of tire irons with it, whereas I suppose a jeep with combat rims only needed the lug wrench.

I think some later MBs had drain holes but in the floor not on the rocker panels.

My uncle's old MB had drain holes from a 1911 Colt field modification.
If you can't get there in a Jeep you don't need to be there!

That was a scary oops.... not funny at the time, but hilarious now.

My uncle had a ‘53 Ford 6 cylinder station wagon with a 12 gauge vent hole in the passenger side toe board - and most of the distributor missing. Out in the grasslands, nine miles from the nearest town.

That is an early slat grill, it has a shorter windshield. The first 3500 or so MB's had that feature... I have 3 slat grill jeeps, one is an early slat. That is a great photo...I don't post very often, but a original photo of a slat always gets my attention...
