Today after visiting the Smith and Edwards store as described in this thread http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/what-i-found-today_topic35414.html my grandson and I took a little ride in the foothills above Pleasant View, Utah near our home. We stopped in this spot for a picture and Collin, who is 5, said "you can see the whole world from here Grampa."
It's not really the whole world, but you can see the Great Salt Lake in the background. The bump in the lake that you can see on the left is Antelope Island where early Utah pioneers ran cattle and now there is a substantial bison hurd that they roundup every rear for health and welfare checks. The small bump on the right is Fremont Island, named for early explorer John C Fremont. Fremont actually called it Disappointment Island because after taking the trouble to get out there, he wasn't too impressed. Famous explorer and mountain man Kit Carson carved a small cross on a rock on the island. The line between green and buildings that you can see just above the windshield is I-15. The large building on the far side of I-15 with the acres of junk surrounding it showing above the rear seat is the above mentioned Smith and Edwards store.
