SO I am currently painting my Water pump The perfect time to restamp Chug's engines serial number.

Its not the number used on my title (I believe that to be the original engines serial number starting with a J ) My Title and Data Plates all now have the same number on them as I ordered a full set of plates from Dataplates4U.

All this said. Originally the numbers were approx. 5/16" tall I have a set of 1/8" tall numbers and can't imagine a reason to spend the money on a set of taller letters. As we all know by now originality is not part of my plan for CHUG LOL.

I have been thinking about restamping the engines serial number and adding some info.

3J 157012

Head .035  Deck .007
Mains/Rods .020 Bores .060

The engine is not the typical 134L we talk about here as its a very late version being made in 1958-59 and originally in a DJ-3A

I'm pretty sure Chug will stay in the family once I am gone. And I'm thinking having this info stamped into the block might be of benefit.

Or should I just put the info in my Service Manual and Paper work and save the effort? I am building a 3 ring binder that will have all sorts of service info because so much of CHUG is custom or not original.

Chug A Lug
1948 2A Body Customized
1949 3A W/S
1957 CJ5 Frame Modified
Late 50's 134L 9.25"clutch T90A D18 (1.25") D44/30 flanged E-Locker D25 5.38 Since 1962

It’s yours, do as you like! 👍🏽 Personally I would leave out the rod/main info, that could change and the stamping would be incorrect, add that on a tag that can easily be replaced.

I agree with this.  You never know what might happen in another 60 years.  Smile
