Rear Seats

I have my Great-Grandfather's 47 and the original rear seat has the taller rear pad. Most photo's that I have seen of the 2A's have the short one. My question is when did they go to the taller rear pad??
The funny thing is they took the rear seat out and put it on the front porch for my Great-grandmother to set in because it was the only seat that she could use and her feet touch the ground. It was there for over 45 years before I picked it up in May.
